Monday saw us add another exciting young talent to our ranks in the shape of Hull City attacker, Keane Lewis-Potter. The 21-year-old has now joined up with the Brentford squad in Germany to get to know his new teammates, and you can get to know more about our new man below.
Kingston-Upon-Hull-born, Keane only joined his home-town Academy aged 14, initially going on trial as a defensive midfielder.
Previous to that, and a month after turning 11, he had reached the 300-goal mark for Hessle Rangers, a junior club in the Hull and District Youth League. His most prolific season saw him net 128 times for the club, which also brought through David Prutton.
Keane's first Brentford interview
Keane signed his first professional contract shortly after his 17th birthday, less than a year after agreeing scholarship terms.
The following season, the 2018/19 campaign, ended with Hull’s Academy Player of the Year trophy after an impressive campaign that saw him score 24 goals in just 34 games for the Tigers at Under-18s and Under-23s level.
The 18/19 campaign also brought his first taste of senior football through an FA Cup Third Round defeat to Millwall in January and then a five-game spell on loan at National League North side Bradford Park Avenue.
Keane’s full league debut for Hull came against Brentford in February 2020, a game that The Bees would win 5-1. That was one of 20 Sky Bet Championship appearances that season for the then 19-year-old. His first goal had come two months previously in a 3-1 defeat to Barnsley.
With Hull dropping into Sky Bet League One for the 2020/21 season, Keane played a key role in their title-winning campaign. An opening day goal against Gillingham set the tone for a season that would end with 15 goals in 51 appearances and an EFL Young Player of the Month award for September.
Back in the second-tier last year, Keane was the only Hull player to score more than five goals. He ended the campaign top of Hull’s scoring charts with 13 in all competitions, to go along with four assists.
The Tiger became a Lion in March, making his England Under-21 debut against Albania in European Championship qualifying. He has since added three more caps, and one goal, to his tally.
Keane swept the floor at Hull’s end of season awards, taking the Manager’s Player, Players' Player, and Supporters' Player of the Year.
