How old were you when you got into football and who were your biggest influences to get into the sport?

I think I was about eight years old when I first started playing football. I used to always kick a ball around in the garden and try to recreate the things I saw pro players do on TV. My dad is definitely my biggest influence when it comes to playing football, he loves the game so much and I would say if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be playing football now, so I am thankful that he introduced me to the sport.

Do you remember your first ever football kit and first pair of boots?

My first ever kit was a Brentford kit, I can’t exactly remember what season it was from but being born and bred in Brentford I didn’t really have much choice! I think my dad would have made sure I was in Brentford colours as he is a loyal supporter of the club. My first football boots were Adidas and I remember being over the moon with them, not quite sure they would fit me now though!

Who was your favourite player growing up and who is your favourite player now?

I used to love Sam Saunders when I was growing up, obviously because he played for Brentford but also because I like how he always gave 100%. Now I would say Aaron Hickey is my favourite player, probably because we play in the same position, so I like to watch him and take tips from the things that he does well and then try to add them to my own game.

What was the first team you played for?

I am proud to say that I have been at Brentford since I was 10-years-old, now being 21 I see this as a great achievement and never plan on playing for another side. I love my teammates and the management that I play under. It is a dream for me to play for this club as me and my family are loyal supporters and I feel like since I have started with the Women’s team my game has developed massively.”

What position did you want to play growing up?

Growing up I always thought I was going to be a left winger. I dreamed of playing on the wing for Brentford! I think being left footed influenced this and watching players like Ryan Giggs and Gareth Bale, who used to play on the left flank, made me want to play this position even more. Now I play as a left-back, so I suppose I’m not too far off where I wanted to be, and I still try to make darting runs like I’m playing left wing. I guess I just have to make sure I’m taking care of my defensive duties more than a winger would.

What number did you want to be when you were growing up and what number are you now?

Number 11 is my number for the Bees, and it was the number I wanted to be when I was growing up, I’m sure wanting to play left wing had something to do with that so I’m grateful that I can be this number even though I’m a left back.

What made you decide to play for the Bees?

“As I have said, me and my family are big Brentford fans and I grew up going to all the games. I have had a season ticket for many years, so it was a no-brainer, to be honest. I started through the Community Sports Trust and still remember the day my dad took me to my first Brentford training session, I was absolutely buzzing, and I am so happy I have continued to play for this great club.

What would you say is the ideal scenario for yourself and the Women’s First Team this season?

I want us to push for promotion this year and I have a real belief that we have the squad to do this. I think I speak on behalf of the whole team when I say this is the aim, we want to win the LSE Regional WFL Division One North as champions and move up a division. For myself I think a personal target is to score more, I got four goals last season so if I could get two or three more this campaign then I would be happy. I like to influence the game higher up the field.

What are your ambitions as a footballer at Brentford?

I want to get to the highest level possible and I want the same for the team also, I know it will take a lot of hard work, but I am willing to do what it takes to get to where I want to be. I also just want to keep enjoying my game like I have been doing, I think this is the main thing really, if I continue to enjoy myself whilst working hard at the same time then I’m sure I will continue to grow as a player.

What do you like to do away from football?

Tough question as football is a big part of my life but I would say going to the gym, I am an active person, so I enjoy working out. I think it is important to look after your body so I always try to go to the gym even if I don’t feel like it some days. Another big one is just spending time with my friends and family. I believe everyone should make time for the people closest to them.
