Summer singing Aaron Hickey has been shortlisted for the 2022 Golden Boy Award.
Italian sports paper Tuttosport, which has organised the awarding of the trophy since it first began in 2003, released a 60-strong shortlist this morning.
A player must be under the age of 21 to be considered for the award and also play in a European top division. The winner is determined by three voting rounds, including a public round and also a later one decided by some of Europe's top sports journalists.
Hickey has impressed on his first two games as a Bee, against Leicester City and Manchester United, where we picked up four points from both games.
The 20-year-old joined us from Bologna, where he scored five goals in Serie A last term, having also made his international debut for Scotland earlier this year. He has picked up four caps so far, playing in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying play-offs in June.
This is Hickey's third successive nomination for Golden Boy. You can read more of Aaron's story in our Get to Know feature.
Among the nominees for this year are two players who we faced in pre-season this summer: Jakub Kaminski (Wolfsburg) and Tiago Tomas (Stuttgart).
Former winners of the award include Erling Haaland (2020), Joao Felix (2019) and the only defender to have won the award so far, Matthijs de Ligt (2018). No Scottish player has won the award, with only two British players claiming the trophy: Wayne Rooney and Raheem Sterling.
