Frank Onyeka scored his first international goal for Nigeria on Monday, helping the Super Eagles to a 3-2 friendly victory over Mozambique in Albufeira.

Geny Catamo and Terem Moffi traded early goals before Onyeka met a low cutback inside the D and sent it flying past Hernani Siluane's outstretched right hand and in.

That put Nigeria 2-1 up on the half-hour and there was better to come before the break; Edmilson Dove saw red for a Mozambique side who then conceded a third in stoppage-time to Moses Simon.

Faisal Bangal pulled one back for Mozambique 10 minutes into the second half but Nigeria held on to record victory.

Onyeka played the full 90 minutes, earning his 14th cap for his nation in the process.

Nigeria begin their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign in November with a pair of games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe before heading to Cote D’Ivoire in January for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Another player who will be representing the Bees at AFCON is Bryan Mbeumo - he and Cameroon on the end of a 1-0 defeat to Senegal in Lens on Monday night.

Sadio Mané struck the only goal of the game from the penalty spot with 10 minutes remaining of the first half.

Mbeumo, who was making his 12th appearance for the Indomitable Lions, played the full game for a Cameroon side who take on Mauritius and Libya in their opening World Cup qualifiers next month.

Christian Nørgaard and Mathias Jensen survived a scare on Tuesday night against San Marino to record an important three points in European Championship qualifying.

It took the Danes 42 minutes to break down the world’s lowest-ranked side as Rasmus Højlund opened the scoring with a fine strike from the left side of the box.

However, San Marino struck back just past the hour when Alessandro Golinucci lashed home a loose ball inside the area.

Yussuf Poulsen's header spared Denmark’s blushes and put them in pole position to qualify for next summer’s finals.

Nørgaard played the full 90 minutes with Jensen a late substitute to see the game home. It was Nørgaard’s 23rd appearance for his nation while Jensen has now featured 26 times for Denmark.

Four points clear of third, the Danes need one win from their final two games against Slovenia and Northern Ireland next month to book their spot in Germany.

Thomas Strakosha captained Albania to a 2-0 win at home to Bulgaria on Tuesday night.

The goals came late in both halves courtesy of Qazim Laci and Ernest Muci as Albania extended their unbeaten run to six matches.

Strakosha’s clean sheet was his 10th in 24 appearances for his nation.

Albania will progress to the Euros should they avoid defeat against Moldova, or beat Faroe Islands, in their final qualifiers next month.

Four goals in 10 second-half minutes ensured IR Iran won their quadrangular tournament in Jordan.

After beating the hosts on Friday, Ghoddos and Iran faced Qatar in the final on Tuesday.

A goalless opening three quarters to the game was followed up by an incredible 10 minutes of scoring which saw Hossein Kanaanizadegan net twice off the bench, either side of strikes from Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Sardar Azmoun.

Ghoddos was substituted late on, after winning his 38th international cap.

Nathan Collins was an unused substitute for Ireland’s 4-0 win over Gibraltar at the Estadio Algarve.

Evan Ferguson, Michael Johnstone, Matt Doherty and Callum Robinson got the goals which gave Ireland their second win in Group B.

Unable to qualify directly, Ireland could still make the play-offs through their Nations League ranking when qualifying ends next month.

The clash between Ukraine and England Under-21s went the way of Yehor Yarmoliuk and Ukraine thanks to Illya Kvasnytsya’s 94th-minute free-kick in Kosice.

Yarmoliuk started with Matthew Cox among the substitutes for England.

The home side took a two-goal lead into half-time but England hit back after the break. Noni Madueke halved the arrears with 20 minutes to play before Charlie Cresswell looked to have secured a point for Lee Carsley’s side in the final minute.

However, Kvasnytsya whipped in a wide free-kick which beat everyone and found the back of the net deep into stoppage-time.

Ukraine top Group F with three wins from three in the early stages of qualifying, three points clear of the Young Lions.

Michael Olakigbe played the final five minutes for England U20s in their 2-1 defeat to Portugal at Stadium MK.

Like the U21s, there was late heartbreak for the Young Lions; Miguel Fale scoring the winner for the away side in the fourth minute of stoppage-time.

It was England’s second defeat to begin their Elite League campaign which they continue with games against Italy and Germany next month.

Olakigbe has played both those games, his first caps for the U20s, following nine appearances at U18 level.
