Ivan Toney has been included in the England squad as Gareth Southgate’s side step up their preparations for Euro 2024 with two friendlies at Wembley this month.

The Three Lions take on Brazil on Saturday 23 March before a game against Belgium on Tuesday 26 March.

Southgate will name his long list for this summer's Euros, which will be hosted in Germany and begins on 14 June, in less than 10 weeks' time.

England have been drawn alongside Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia in Group C.

Toney made his international debut against Ukraine in March 2023. He is only the third player to represent England whilst at Brentford, and the first since Les Smith, who was a part of the side that faced Romania in 1939.

The striker has scored four goals in nine Premier League appearances since his return to action in January.

Speaking about his Euro 2024 hopes in a Long Read published last month, Toney said: “That’s the goal. But I don’t know what’s going to happen between now and then. I just have to make sure I’m playing well, scoring goals, and who knows what will happen.

“My England debut was a dream come true, but I don’t want it to be me dipping in and dipping out. I want it to be a continuous thing and a long-time thing.

“Hopefully, I can get in the squad and contribute a lot more.”
