The nine Brentford players that went away on international duty are now back with The Bees. The nine players picked up 11 caps between them and scored one goal. There were debuts, first goals and progress towards the FIFA World Cup 2018 as well as more experience at the higher level for players in both the First Team and B Team squads.

Three Brentford players were involved in World Cup qualifiers. Kamohelo Mokotjo played as South Africa beat Burkina Faso on Saturday. That win means that if they win two games against Senegal next month they will reach the World Cup Finals. Henrik Dalsgaard and Andreas Bjelland were also involved in qualifiers for Denmark. The Danish side won one and drew one to finished second in UEFA World Cup Qualifying Group E. Henrik played in both games while Andreas played in one. They will now have a two-legged Play-Off next month against opponents to be confirmed next week. If they win that two-legged tie they will also head to Russia for the tournament.

Three more Brentford players were involved in games for Denmark’s younger teams over the past week. Justin Shaibu played his first two games for Denmark Under-20 having previously played for them at Under-18 and Under-17 level. He played in both games and scored one goal in two friendlies against Sweden. Meanwhile, Brentford B defender Mads Bech Sørensen captained Denmark Under-19 in two games against Romania. Denmark won both games and Lukas Talbro came on as a substitute in both matches.

Brentford B goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe picked up another England cap this week. The teenager was part of the England Under-19 squad that played two games in Eastern Europe. He played in a 2-2 draw with Czech Republic to earn his sixth international cap. Theo Archibald was part of the Scotland Under-21 squad but did not feature as they played two UEFA Under-21 European Championships qualification matches, winning one and losing one. Brentford B striker Marcus Forss was also away as part of the Finland Under-19 squad but did not play as they lost two games to Georgia.
