Brentford B began their defence of the London Senior Cup on Tuesday night with a 1-0 win against Corinthian-Casuals, with Isaac Holland proving to be a key feature throughout for the Bees.

The 17-year-old was prominent for Brentford especially in the first half where he continued to get the better of the Corinthian left-back. After giving the opposition a few early warning signs with his crossing ability, he eventually made them pay for allowing him too much space on the right flank, setting up teammate, Kyreece Lisbie, with a precise ball into the striker who calmly slotted home for the Bees on 38 minutes.

“It was a good game, we’re happy to start the competition with a win,” said the number seven. “I thought we dominated the first half, the second half we dropped off a bit, but we got the win in the end.

“I felt I was dominating in the one-v-one situation, and I knew if I continued to do this a goal would eventually come.”

At such a young age having recently turned 17, Holland seems to be adapting to the physicality that the men’s game possesses just fine and has started life at the club in an assured manner since signing from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer.

“It’s great to play at this level, it’s a confidence boost, and I feel like it is helping me develop as a player.”

The teenager went on to talk about how he takes great confidence from the Brentford B Head Coach, Neil MacFarlane, having faith in him to perform at this level.

“Like I say it’s another boost to my confidence playing under Neil, and him believing in me and helping me to get better as a player and as a person also.”

Holland will hope for more chances to perform in the London Senior Cup this season and help his side retain the trophy following last season’s triumph in the competition.
