Slovenian striker Jan Novak has become the latest addition to the Brentford B squad. The teenager completed a medical yesterday, Monday 30 January, and signed an 18-month contract. He has joined The Bees from Slovenian second division side Nogometni Klub Krka for an undisclosed fee after a successful trial at the start of the season.

Jan came through the youth ranks at Krka. He made his debut in the Slovenian top flight when he was just 16 and scored his first goal for Krka earlier this season. He has been a regular for Krka in the second tier of Slovenian football this term, playing in a variety of attacking positions. Jan has scored twice in 14 games this season. He will link up with B Team Head Coach Kevin O’Connor and his squad this week.

Robert Rowan, Brentford FC Head of Football Operations, said: “Kevin and I are really pleased to add Jan to the group. We looked to add him in the summer but couldn't get things finalised in time. Jan is an attacking player who prefers to play as a central striker but can also play in the wide positions if required.

“He's at a good level technically and physically. He impressed the technical staff when on trial and his attitude was first class. Fair play to him, he's moved from Slovenia where he was a regular in the second division to a new country, leaving home for the first time and on a short contract. Kevin and the staff look forward to working with him from here onwards.”
