B Team defender Jarvis Edobor has joined Maidstone United on a youth loan until 1 January 2019. The Vanarama National League side welcomed the 19-year-old centre-back today, Monday 3 December, and he could make his debut away at Barrow next Saturday. Maidstone exited the Emirates FA Cup when losing to Oldham Athletic on Saturday but have six league games in the next 29 days that Jarvis can play in.
This is Jarvis’ first loan move away from the Club since he signed a professional deal with Brentford in the summer of 2016. The Bees brought him in from Chalfont St Peter as the first new signing of the brand-new B Team system, following a successful trial in the summer. He scored his first goal for the squad on 10 February 2018, the winner in a 2-1 victory over Shamrock Rovers in Ireland.
This past pre-season, Jarvis was part of the First Team friendly squad that played Shrewsbury Town under then-Head Coach Dean Smith. Jarvis was brought on as a 78th-minute substitute. Under Kevin O’Connor this term, Jarvis has made 13 appearances and scored twice. He actually played against Maidstone for Brentford B back in July. In total, he is the leading man when it comes to appearance stats, having played 82 times for Brentford B so far – a Club record.
B Team Assistant Coach Allan Steele said: “Jarvis has shown real maturity on and off the pitch and this is a great opportunity which he fully deserves. It is a natural step for him. We know the environment he’s going into will be positive and the challenges he will face will aid his development. Jarvis played well in the pre-season game at Maidstone this season. We’ve seen that physically and mentally, he is more than capable of competing at that level.”
