Brentford B have signed former Arsenal and Brighton youngster Jayden Onen on an 18-month contract. The 17-year-old midfielder signed the deal this afternoon, Monday 17 December, following a successful trial.
Jayden was out of contract having recently been released from Brighton & Hove Albion, and joins Brentford B on a free transfer. The deal includes an optional extension of 12 months, which would take him to the summer of 2021.
As part of his trial period, he travelled to Italy with the B Team on their most recent European tour, playing in two of the games against Brescia and Chiasso.
A regular in the Brighton youth sides last season, Jayden appeared for the squad in this year’s Checkatrade Trophy. He started against Luton Town on 4 September in a 2-1 defeat to the Hatters. This year he also scored his first hat-trick for The Seagulls in a 6-4 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League Youth south division.
B Team Assistant Coach Allan Steele said: “Jayden has impressed during a trial period and we look forward to working with him. He has an excellent technical base and is committed to developing himself as a person and a player. He has had a good impact in games and training, and we are keen to see how far he can progress.”
