Jon Varney, Chief Executive of Brentford FC, has been appointed on to the Club’s Board of Directors.

Jon’s additional responsibilities will begin immediately, with the Premier League having ratified his appointment.

Jon joined the Club as Chief Executive in March 2019 following his time at Pitch International and Premiership Rugby. In what has been an eventful three years, he has guided the Club through the pandemic, the stadium move and promotion to the Premier League.

Cliff Crown, Chair of Brentford FC said: “Jon has done a brilliant job since joining Brentford in 2019, a Club he already knew so well given his lifelong allegiances.

“Looking back, so much has been achieved in that time under his leadership. Jon has taken the reins to organise and grow our off-field operation. The stadium move has been a success, we are growing our commercial partnerships – fuelling further investment in the team, and continuing to create the right environment for our staff to thrive in.

“Appointing Jon to our Board was the natural step for us to take. He will join Phil Giles, Director of Football and Nity Raj, General Counsel, as our executive directors serving alongside Monique Choudhuri, Deji Davies, Stewart Purvis and Preeti Shetty - our non-executive directors.

“Together, we feel we have a balanced, experienced and diverse team in place to govern the Club, set the direction and oversee our strategic plans.”

Jon Varney, Chief Executive, added: “Our role, as directors, is to ensure that the Club is prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. It is an honour for me to join the Board and we will work hard, together, to do just that.

“We have made a lot of progress in recent years, but there is more to come. I look forward to supporting my Board colleagues and working alongside our staff as we look to drive Brentford FC forward.”
