Jonathan Douglas has left Brentford and signed for Ipswich Town.

The experienced central midfield player was allowed to leave Griffin Park after four years in West London and signed a one-year contract with the East Anglian side earlier today, Tuesday 4 August.

Jonathan signed for Brentford in June 2011 when his contract at Swindon Town expired.

He departs having played almost 200 games for The Bees in all competitions.

Marinus Dijkhuizen, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: "I'm happy that Jonathan found a good club very quickly, it's a good move for everyone. The players and I will look forward to seeing Jonathan again on Saturday."

Phil Giles, Brentford FC Co-Director of Football, added: "On behalf of everyone at the club I'd like to thank Jonathan for his commitment to Brentford over the last four years.

“He has been an integral part of the squad and success that the players have achieved in recent seasons. We wish him well at Ipswich."

Jonathan started out at Monaghan United and moved to Blackburn Rovers at the age of 18.

Ipswich will be the fifth English club of his 15-year career as he has also played for Leeds United as well as Blackburn, Swindon and Brentford.

Jonathan was named Player of the Year in his first season at Griffin Park and helped The Bees win promotion from Sky Bet League One in 2014.
