Brentford FC winger Josh Clarke has returned from an injury-hit loan at Sky Bet League Two Dagenham and Redbridge on loan.

Josh joined The Daggers last month and was an unused substitute in his first match, against Mansfield Town.

He then picked up a thigh injury and was not fit enough for league action, although he was able to appear for Bretford’s Development Squad against Sheffield Wednesday yesterday, Monday September 22, after he had returned from East London.

Josh was promoted to Brentford’s First Team Squad from the Development Squad towards the end of the 2013/14 season and signed a new one-year contract in the summer.

The 20-year-old has had a meteoric rise since joining The Bees in 2011.

Prior to signing a two-year scholarship at the age of 17 he was effectively playing park football.

He completed his scholarship last summer and signed a professional contract, as part of the Development Squad.

Josh made his First Team debut in the Capital One Cup defeat to Derby County last August and also featured in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie against Peterborough United in October before making his league debut in April against Colchester United.

Brentford manager Mark Warburton said: "Unfortunately Josh picked up an injury in the early stages of his time at Dagenham.

"It was clear that he was not going to be fit before the end of his loan spell so he returned to us here.

"It was disappointing for both Josh and Dagenham that his time there was interrupted so severly by injury.'
