Ken Horne, who made 239 league and cup appearances for Brentford over an 11 year period between 1950 and 1961, is the latest former player inducted into the Brentford FC Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame is a joint initiative between the Football Club and the Brentford FC Former Players’ Association, and recognises outstanding service by former Brentford players and managers. He was presented with a salver at his South West London home by Director Donald Kerr on Saturday.

Ken, who turned 89 in June, made his Brentford debut in a 0-0 draw with Leicester City at Griffin Park on 18 November 1950 after arriving that summer from Blackpool. Playing at either right half or either full back position, he would be a regular in the side throughout the 1950s.

Ken was awarded a joint benefit match by the club in February 1956 with George Bristow, Reg Newton, and Billy Sperrin against an International Managers XI, which featured his former Blackpool team mate Stanley Matthews.

He left Griffin Park in the summer of 1961, joining Southern League Dover, where he saw out his footballing career. After his retirement, he helped Brentford reform their Youth Team in the early 1970s after it was disbanded in 1967.

It is expected further inductions will be made in autumn of this year.
