Ashford Town Juniors had a surprise when they got to meet First Team players Daniel Bentley and Sergi Canos, plus Assistant Head Coach Thomas Frank at Griffin Park on Thursday afternoon. The side, based in Middlesex, won the competition Kit for Kids, run by EFL partner Wickes.
Alongside Mitre and the EFL, Wickes ran a nationwide competition, across all 72 EFL Clubs, for junior football teams to win a full team kit. All entrants had to do was to tell Wickes why they deserved the kit and Ashford Town Juniors were the lucky winners.
Coach Neil Mears from Ashford Town Juniors was on hand to receive the kit, including boys from the team. They received: 13 outfield football kits, including: 13 outfield kits, shirts, shorts and socks, two goalkeeper kits including shirts, shorts, socks and gloves, two Mitre Hyperseam footballs, 15 training bibs, one agility and speed set, one bench jacket, plus 16 tickets to watch Brentford at a future home game.
Kits for Kids is an exciting initiative, helping to support grass roots football and demonstrates Wickes commitment to local communities and gives youth football teams in need a kick start to help develop the footballers of tomorrow.
