Former Brentford striker Lasse Vibe was the latest to perform the Griffin Park Countdown. At every home league match in 2019/20 we are counting down to the final game at Griffin Park. This will include using a special display which will be updated at each remaining league match. The Farewell Griffin Park countdown was changed to ten when The Bees beat Queens Park Rangers in our last ever West London derby at our historic home.

Lasse is now playing for FC Midtjylland, where Brentford FC Owner Matthew Benham has the majority shareholding. FCM, as they are known, as currently top of the Danish Superliga, four points ahead of the chasing pack. The Danish league is on a winter break at the moment and the FCM squad were spending time in London, taking in Brentford’s West London derby win during their trip.

Lasse was a favourite with Brentford fans before he signed for Chinese Super League side Changchun Yatai for an undisclosed fee two years ago. He played 97 Brentford games in all competitions and scored 37 goals. He scored 36 of those goals in 94 league appearances for The Bees.

He spent two-and-a-half-years in West London, having joined from Swedish side IFK Göteborg in the summer of 2015. He returned to Göteborg after a year in China and then moved to FCM this month. He is set to make his FCM debut when the season resumes next month.

There will be no countdown at Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup game against Leicester City. The countdown is only recognising the final league games at Griffin Park. It will return when we host Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.
