Brentford’s on loan players were left kicking their heels on New Year’s Day.

The Bees had seven players out on loan at clubs due to play on Wednesday, January 1, but none got any game time, largely because of the weather.

Development Squad striker Luke Norris was with Northampton Town but their Sky Bet League Two game against Chesterfield was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Development Squad midfield player Emmanuel Oyeleke was due to play for Aldershot Town but their Skrill Premier game against Forest Green Rovers was also postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Development Squad defender Aaron Pierre is with Skrill Premier side Cambridge United, their game away to Braintree Town was also called off due to the pitch being waterlogged.

Development Squad winger Josh Clarke was available for Maidenhead United for their Skrill South game against Staines Town but that was also postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Two Brentford players are with Calor League Premier Division clubs.

Goalkeeper Jack Bonham is with Arlesey Town and Development Squad midfield player Joe Maloney is with Burnham.

Arlesey’s game against St Neots Town and Burnham’s against AFC Totton were also called off.

Development Squad defender Alfie Mawson did at least get to watch some action.

He was an unused substitute for Luton Town as they beat Barnet 2-1 in a Skrill Premier game.

Luton went 2-0 up in the first half of a match that could arguably also have been postponed due to the conditions and got over the line although Barnet pulled one back.

Luton are top of the Skrill Premier, four points clear of Cambridge having played two games more.
