Fin Stevens helped Oxford United progress in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night before coming out on the wrong side of Saturday’s promotion clash with Peterborough United.
Stevens played the final 30 minutes as Tyler Goodrham’s goal saw off Forest Green Rovers and booked Oxford’s spot in the last 16 of the competition.
However, it was a different story on Saturday at the ABAX Stadium. Peterborough struck twice before the break and added a third in second-half stoppage-time to drop Oxford to sixth in the table following a third winless outing.
Stevens played the full 90 minutes for the U’s who will look to return to winning ways at Reading on Tuesday night. They then host Burton Albion at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.
Paris Maghoma played 45 minutes on Tuesday night, helping Bolton Wanderers also make EFL Trophy progress with a 2-0 win over Port Vale.
Dion Charles opened the scoring after nine minutes with Carlos Mendes Gomes scoring a second midway through the second half.

Ryan Trevitt couldn’t prevent Exeter City falling to another defeat on Saturday, this time at the hands of Port Vale.
