Paris Maghoma continued his fine form for Bolton Wanderers at the weekend, with his second goal in three matches since returning from injury helping to ensure there was no Emirates FA Cup upset for the Trotters against Solihull Moors.

Ricardo Santos headed home the opening goal with six minutes to go at the end of the first half. Maghoma, who had seen an audacious long-range effort crash back off the bar early on, added the second soon after the restart. Neat footwork on the edge of the six-yard box gave him a shooting chance which he made the most of.

Maghoma was withdrawn with 20 minutes to play as Will Forester and Dion Charles wrapped up the scoring at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

The Trotters’ attention turns back to the League One promotion race this week with a trip to Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night before Saturday’s visit from Blackpool.

Also on target this week was Ryan Trevitt. The midfielder struck twice as Exeter City took Middlesbrough all the way in their EFL Cup fourth-round tie.

Trevitt whipped home the opener with a first-time effort from the edge of the box to put Exeter in front after 13 minutes. They held that lead until Morgan Rodgers and Samuel Silvera struck twice in 10 minutes at the start of the second half.

However, Trevitt made the most of the space afforded to him to drill home an equaliser from the edge of the D to make it 2-2 with 25 minutes to play.

Emmanuel Latte Lath had the final say, netting from the spot eight minutes from time to see off Exeter once and for all.

A second cup exit of the week then followed on Saturday, Trevitt playing 90 minutes in a 2-0 Emirates FA Cup defeat at the hands of Wigan Athletic.

The Grecians make the long trip to Fleetwood this Saturday in the third tier.

Matt Cox and Tristan Crama both played 90 minutes as Bristol Rovers put seven past non-league Whitby Town in the FA Cup on Saturday.

After John Marquis’ fifth-minute opener, a tough afternoon looked on the cards as Junior Mondal levelled for Whitby eight minutes later.

However, the Gas struck three more times before the break to take command. Connor Simpson then made it 4-2 on the hour but three Rovers goals in an 11-minute spell shortly after ensured their progress.

This week’s League One action for the West Country side sees a trip to Reading on Tuesday night before the long journey to Carlisle on Saturday.

Fin Stevens helped Oxford United end a three-game winless run in League One with a 2-0 victory at Lincoln City on Tuesday night.

Stevens played 90 minutes as a goal in each half from Ciaron Brown and Lukas Jensen opened up a three-point gap between Oxford in second and Bolton in third.

Then on Saturday, Stevens wasn’t involved as United avoided an upset by beating Maidenhead United 2-0 in the FA Cup first round.

This week Oxford host Chelsea Under-21s in the EFL Trophy before travelling to east London to face Leyton Orient in the league on Saturday.

Daniel Oyegoke registered an assist in Bradford City’s 3-0 EFL Trophy victory over Manchester City U21s last week.

Tyler Smith was the hero with a first-half hat-trick, the second of which was set up by a defence-splitting pass from Oyegoke.

After playing 90 minutes on Tuesday night, Oyegoke was an unused substitute for the Bantams’ FA Cup first-round exit at the hands of Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

Bradford host Barrow in Sky Bet League Two this Saturday.

Ben Winterbottom returned to action for Welling United on Saturday following three weeks out with a head injury.

The Wings took a point from their trip to Weymouth thanks to Kain Adom’s second-half effort.

Four points from safety, Welling head to Dover Athletic on Tuesday night before a home game against Slough Town this weekend.
