Paris Maghoma grabbed an assist, his 10th goal contribution of a fruitful season with Bolton Wanderers, to help the Trotters to an Easter Monday win at home to Reading.
Following Good Friday’s goalless draw at Stevenage, where Maghoma played the full 90 minutes, nothing less than three points would do as the Royals made the trip to the Toughsheet Community Stadium.
And Bolton made no mistake. Aaron Collins netted a hat-trick with Jón Daði Böðvarsson getting the others in a 5-2 home win. Maghoma was involved in the goals too, squaring for Böðvarsson’s first and Bolton’s third just after the restart.
Victory leaves Bolton in third, three points behind Derby County in second with a game at Bristol Rovers to look forward to on Saturday.
Charlie Goode featured in both Wigan Athletic games over the weekend. The defender played the full 90 minutes on Friday in the Latics’ 1-1 draw at Burton Albion. He then came off the bench for the closing stages of Monday’s 3-1 defeat at Cambridge United.
12th in the table, Wigan are at home to Port Vale this weekend.
Michael Olakigbe came off the bench for Peterborough United in their 3-1 defeat at home to Carlisle United on Friday.
Jon Mellish struck a 31-minute hat-trick to put Carlisle in control at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. Joel Randell pulled one back on the hour but Posh were unable to turn things around against the side sitting bottom of the table.
Olakigbe played the final 10 minutes on Friday and was then an unused substitute on Monday in a 2-1 victory at Leyton Orient.
Those results leave Peterborough fourth in the table, seven points ahead of seventh and seven points off second, with six to play.
Peterborough have the EFL Trophy final against Wycombe Wanderers to look forward to on Sunday at Wembley.
Fin Stevens wasn’t involved in Oxford United’s squads over the Easter weekend.
A 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury Town and 4-0 win over Fleetwood kept the U’s well in play-off contention. They sit outside the top six on goal difference only ahead of Saturday’s trip to Burton Albion.
Myles Peart-Harris was an unused substitute for Portsmouth on Friday as they continued their march towards promotion with a 3-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers.
Pompey host second-placed Derby County tonight, knowing that a win will take them 11 points clear of third with just five to play. After the Rams, Portsmouth host Shrewsbury Town at the weekend.
Matt Cox was an unused substitute, while Tristan Crama wasn’t involved, as Bristol Rovers took a point from their Easter matches. The Gas followed up Friday’s 2-0 defeat at Port Vale with a goalless draw at home to Shrewsbury Town on Monday.
Rovers are at Bolton this weekend.
Daniel Oyegoke played the full 90 minutes for Bradford City on Friday as they beat Tranmere Rovers 2-0 at University of Bradford Stadium.
However, he was then absent on Monday for the Bantams’ 1-1 draw at Grimsby Town.
Bradford host Gillingham next Saturday with eight points separating them from the play-off spots with just five to play.
