Brentford B striker Marcus Forss captained Finland Under-19 in a friendly match over the weekend. The 18-year-old led his country as they were beaten 2-1 by Montenegro Under-20 on Saturday. His midfield team mate Jaakko Oksanen was also involved in the match, appearing as a substitute in the second half. Montenegro’s more experienced side took a 2-0 lead and although Finland pulled a goal back late on, they could not recover the deficit.

Finland are building up to the UEFA Under-19 European Championships, which they are hosting next month. Marcus and Jaakko are currently in the midst of a four-day gettogether. That will end today, Monday 4 June, when they take on Montenegro Under-20 again in another friendly encounter. The tournament will start on 19 July and Finland have been drawn in a group with Italy, Norway and Portugal.

As well as this training camp, Finland will be holding two more before they name their squad for the tournament. They also have a match lined up against Turkey in July. Both Marcus and Jaakko will be hoping to be part of the group for the competition.

Marcus has been a regular for Finland at youth international level. As well as his Under-19 appearances, he has also played at Under-18 level for his country. In total, Marcus has played 15 games for Finland and scored eight goals, including two in his last match against Switzerland.

Despite only being 17, Jaakko made his Under-19 debut against Georgia in October and now has eight caps at that level. He has also represented his country at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 level.
