THE OPPOSITION
Tony Pulis' Middlesbrough are doing what Tony Pulis sides do, win without necessarily entertaining.
Boro head into tomorrow's game sitting second in the Sky Bet Championship, having kept 11 clean sheets in 17 league outings this term. Games involving Boro have seen a league low 1.59 goals per game this term, with Boro netting one goal or fewer on ten occasions.
The Teesiders' positive start to the season has come off the back of a pre-season which saw key parts of Boro's attacking arsenal depart. Patrick Bamford and Adama Traore left for Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively while at the back, Ben Gibson was sold to Burnley. Tony Pulis sought to counter those losses by adding Mo Besic from Everton, Millwall's George Saville, and Jordan Hugill from West Ham on loan deals.
TEAM NEWS
There's mixed news for Brentford on the injury front with Thomas Frank confirming that Said Benrahma and Ollie Watkins will miss tomorrow's game through injury. Romaine Sawyers is also suspended after picking up his 5th booking of the season against QPR. Kamohelo Mokotjo is a doubt but Neal Maupay, Chris Mepham, Emiliano Marcondes, and Rico Henry are all available for selection.
Boro have no such injury concerns with only Ryan Shotton and Sam McQueen set to miss out.
THE MANAGER
Veteran manager Tony Pulis was appointed by Boro on Boxing Day 2017 after the departure of Garry Monk. His previous three clubs were Stoke City, Crystal Palace and most recently West Bromwich Albion. He has also held posts at Plymouth Argyle, Bristol City and Gillingham.
A former defender with appearances for Bristol Rovers and Newport County, Pulis has gained a reputation in football for getting good results despite tight financial restrictions. His aim with Middlesbrough is to return them to top flight football, having guided Boro to the Play-Offs last term.
