Brentford B make the short trip across West London on Saturday as they continue their pre-season campaign against Fulham Under-21s in a behind closed doors fixture. Kick-off will be at 11am.
The young Bees have now played three matches so far since they returned from their summer break having taken on the likes of Salisbury FC, Maidenhead United and Swansea City’s Under-21s. The match with Swansea came following a week-long stay in South Wales where the players were put through their paces to build their fitness and prepare for the new campaign.
The Opposition
This will actually be the first time that the B Team have faced a youth side from Fulham since the team’s formation back in 2016. Fulham go into the game following a 3-2 win over Bournemouth’s Under-21s earlier this week. The Whites went behind twice in the game but they sealed the win with two goals from Jean-Pierre Tiehi and one from Terry Ablade. The side also took on Rio Ave B on 16 July as they claimed a 6-1 win whilst out in Portugal.
In charge of Fulham’s Under-21s is Steve Wigley, who first arrived at the club in 2012 and had success with the Under-18 side. He took the Under-23 role in 2021 and the side reverted to being categorised as an Under-21 team this year alongside numerous clubs across the country.
The B Team added to their squad on Friday as Michael Olakigbe joined The Bees from Fulham.
