Alan Judge started his second B Team match in as many weeks, getting 71 minutes under his belt on his way back to fitness. Ilias Chatzitheodoridis also continued his role at left-back after appearing in recent First Team match squads.
The first real opening was worked by The Bees. Bradley Clayton played the ball to Theo Archibald and the Scottish winger put his shot just wide after cutting in from the left.
After 10 minutes, Brentford gave away a free-kick right on the edge of their own box when Nikolaj Kirk was judged to have brought down a Wolves forward. The kick was blocked by the wall and then Jarvis Edobor got out quickly to prevent a follow up.
Joe Hardy went close with 18 minutes gone. A low cross from David Titov found him in the box, he turned and struck the ball but the keeper managed to palm it away.
Archibald did the same after 26 minutes, this time after a ball worked through the middle. Kirk played it up to Hardy, who flicked it on to Archibald. The 19-year-old then got it out of his feet and shot, the goalkeeper once again able to save it.
Brentford took the lead through Hardy just before half-time. A corner from Judge was finished at the near post, the striker's eighth goal of the season.
At half-time, Reece Cole and Herson Alves were introduced after both of them recently returned from knocks.
They were involved straight away, Cole finding Alves on the right. Exchanging a one-two with Hardy, Alves shot at goal but it was turned away at the last moment by the Wolves keeper.
Wolves were awarded a penalty when Titov brought someone down in the area after 56 minutes. Ellery Balcombe was up to the task though, diving to his left to parry the kick to safety.
Brentford then got their second. Cole flicked a ball over the top for Alves. The Portuguese winger touched it past his marker and then tucked it into the bottom left corner.
With only four minutes left, Wolves snatched a goal back. Cole's attempted pass out from the back was blocked, it rolled to an attacker and Balcombe couldn't reach the finish.
The away side applied extra pressure in the final stages but it was Brentford that had the last chance. Archibald knocked the ball down the line, Alves crossed it in for Clayton. The striker turned on the spot and struck at goal but it was cleared off the line.
