Both players started the Final as England went in search of their second European champion title at that age group as they came from behind to confirm the win and lift the trophy.

They fell behind to a first half goal from Oscar Gloch before rallying in the second half to level through Callum Doyle. The tight affair then went to extra-time where the Young Lions managed to get themselves in front in a period of the game where they saw a great deal of the ball. It became 2-1 on 108 minutes as Carney Chukwuemeka chested the ball home from close range and they were out of sight eight minutes later when Aaron Ramsey smashed home from a few yards out to confirm a memorable night for the team.

Matthew played the full 90 minutes whilst Daniel made his second start of the tournament as he went on to feature for 73 minutes. The win caps off a fantastic season for the two youngsters having developed a great deal over the past 12 months. Matthew, who has just earned a promotion to the First Team squad from Brentford B, conceded just twice all tournament with one of those goals coming from the penalty spot. As for Daniel, his two starts in the competition were accompanied by an appearance in every match of the tournament for the Young Lions at right back. The 19-year-old, who joined the B Team from Arsenal last summer, has had a promising start to life in West London with Brentford and both players will be looking to build on their international success going into the new campaign.
