Juan Pablo Gonzales Velasco scored twice to help Brentford to the Globe title at the 2014 Milk Cup after a convincing 4-0 win over Southampton.

After an even opening quarter of an hour Joshua Bohui opened the scoring for The Bees from the spot and Velasco made it two before half-time with an unstoppable effort from just outside the D.

Central defender Jake Eales wrapped the game up four minutes into the second-half, nodding home from a corner, and Velasco put the seal on the victory with another stunning long range effort moments from time.

The win saw Brentford lift the Globe trophy and finish 5th out of 28 teams, above the likes of Southampton, Liverpool and Everton.

The Saints, who operate a Catergory One Academy and in recent years have produced a number of Premier League players, went into the match with a perfect record from their four games so far.

Brentford's only defeat had come against Queen of the South on Tuesday and, with both sides in good form, it was an even, entertaining start to the game.

Oliver Long shot straight at Bees' goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe and Bohui, keen to add to his five goals already this week, struck the post from distance before drawing a good save out of Adam Parkes.

The two sides continued to trade chances in the opening quarter hour as Dan N'Lundulu fired over and then brought a good save out of Balcombe while Julius Fenn-Evans also brought the best of out Parkes.

The Bees took the lead from the spot after 18 minutes as Bohui's mazy run was halted illegally in the box and he picked himself up to sweep home from the spot.

Long nearly levelled matters within a minute but he fired high and wide from a good position inside the area and soon afterwards the South Coast club found themselves two behind.

Again Bohui was heavily involved as he found Fenn-Evans on the byline and his cutback was rifled into the top corner from outside the box by Velasco.

Bohui could have grabbed a third just before half-time but, after robbing Steven Cairns and racing into the box, he was denied by Parkes.

However, Stuart English's side didn't have to wait long for a third as Eales rose highest to power home a corner after Kingsley Eshun had seen his shot brilliantly tipped round the post by Parkes.

Despite the game being won Brentford continued to surge forward looking for more goals.

Fenn-Evans shot wide at the near post with players queuing up for a cut-back and a surging run from right-back by Bradley Kauzeni ended with his shot being pulled wide of the near post from the edge of the box.

Velasco shot straight at Parkes and good work between Malachi Simpson and Bohui ended with Simpson firing at Parkes from 15 yards.

The Bees were not to be denied a fourth as, with a minute remaining, Velasco picked up the ball on the edge of the area and fired high past Parkes to round off a memorable tournament for Brentford.
