Nico Yennaris said that he’s happy with his form ahead of Brentford’s trip to Cardiff City on Saturday. The 24-year-old, who has already racked up 18 appearances this campaign, said that the international break provided some welcome respite ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.

“It’s always nice to have some recovery time – particularly as the next break isn’t until March,” Nico told iFollow Brentford. “It’s going to be a few months of hard graft, but it gives us a chance to keep our run going - we’ve been on good form lately.”

The Bees are unbeaten in nine league games – a run stretching back to the victory at Bolton Wanderers on 23 September. Nico was adamant that form was always going to turn after a challenging start to the season:

“We performed really well during the games in which we lost at the start of the season; on the coach back from away grounds we’d be looking at each other questioning what we could have done better. It was a case of maintaining belief in our approach with the belief that the results would come – we couldn’t play that well while continuing to lose. We’ve tightened up defensively, we’re performing well and the results are coming.”

With four goals in 18 appearances including a stunning strike during Brentford’s victory at The Macron Stadium, the former Arsenal man reported that he was happy with his own form during the first third of the season:

“Over the last five weeks I’ve started to hit the form that I was in last year. I’ve been pleased with my performances this season; I feel as though I’m in a good mood and good form at the moment.”

Nico was in bullish mood when drawn on the matter of The Bees’ trip to the Welsh capital on Saturday:

“It’ll be a tough game as it always is against a Neil Warnock side. When we’re away from home there’s perhaps a bit less pressure on us – with the way we play, opposition fans get frustrated as we’re a team that likes to dominate possession and created a lot of chances.”
