Danish B Team player Nikolaj Kirk has signed a one-year loan extension with Brentford FC from FC Midtjylland, subject to international clearance. The 20-year-old spent last season with The Bees and has now signed on for another season under the guidance of Kevin O'Connor.
Kirk, who has played for Denmark at various youth levels, agreed a new one-year loan today, Monday 16 July, after beginning pre-season in West London.
The midfielder, who can also play in defence, made 34 appearances for Brentford B last season, scoring a single goal from the penalty spot against Manchester City at Griffin Park. So far this term, he has started both of the squad's pre-season friendlies against Maidenhead United and Watford U23, as well as participated in the Three Peaks Challenge.
B Team Head Coach Kevin O'Connor said: "I'm pleased we've managed to keep Nikolaj at the Club for another year. He developed really well last season, particularly towards the end of the season when he was playing a new position at fullback.
"We had discussions with the guys at Midtjylland and we agreed that the best thing would be for the player to remain here within our environment and hopefully develop further. The staff and I are looking forward to working with him again."
