Two young players who attended Brentford FC open trials earlier this year have been invited back.
The Club’s Academy ran a two-day trial for players aged 16 to 23 in April.
Goalkeeper Paul White, 18, and left back Chinua Cole, 19, impressed the Brentford scouting team during the trial.
They have been training with the Club’s Development Squad this week, taking part in the pre-season programme.
The Club will make a decision on whether to keep them on for a longer period later this week.
Ose Aibangee, Brentford FC Academy Director, said: “We have a top class scouting network and are always out searching for new talent.
“But there are always players that don’t get seen and these trials give us a chance to look at faces we have not spotted or at some we do know in a professional environment.
“We liked what we saw of Paul and Chinua at the trials and will be getting to know them better this week.
“If they have what we are after there may be the chance of an extended trial or a contract.
“That chance exists for everyone who attends our trials.
The trial, which ran over the course of a weekend, involved players being put through their paces at Brentford’s Jersey Road Training Ground.
All players got two hours of training with the coaching team at Brentford’s Category Two Football Academy, working with some of the finest development coaches in London.
On the second day of the trial every attendee got at least 60 minutes playing time in a match situation and there was individual written feedback after the game.
Paul said: “Coming from Ireland it is hard to get trials.
“I wanted to come in and show what I could so, I saw it as an opportunity.
“As a goalkeeper I could show my communication and the ability to adapt.
“It was a worthwhile experience.
“I got to see the standard that was needed to make it over here and it was a really good experience.
“It has been a great experience for me and I would recommend it for any player.
“If you have confidence in yourself you can show you are good enough.
Chinua said: “The trials were an investment in my future.
“I had to show I could so a job in a team and shine when I had a chance.
“I have seen that Brentford is a place where young players can develop.
“There is a focus on playing the ball on the floor, I like that and it will make me better.
“Anyone who doesn’t make it as a professional club should look at trials like this as another chance.
“Never give up, keep fighting for a chance.”
Paul and Chinua spoke to Bees Player during their time with the Club – subscribers can see an interview with the pair soon.
