Striker Philipp Hofmann has left Brentford and joined SpVgg Greuther Fürth for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old completed the move – which is subject to international clearance – earlier today, Tuesday 13 June, and leaves West London after two years with The Bees. He played 33 games for Brentford in all competitions and scored four goals. Greuther Fürth play in the second tier of German football – 2. Bundesliga – and finished eighth last year.

Brentford signed Philipp from 1.FC Kaiserslautern for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2015. The tall striker has represented Germany at Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level and was part of his national squad at the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championships. He came through the youth ranks at FC Schalke 04 and had loan spells at SC Paderborn 07 and FC Ingolstadt 04 before joining Kaiserslautern where he spent a year before moving to London.

We were therefore keen to find a new club for Philipp to give him a fresh start and a chance to play games. It is a move that is in the best interests of all parties. We'd like to thank Philipp for his contribution at Brentford in the last two seasons and wish him well with his new club."
