Last time out
The B team were last in action on 24 January when they made the short trip across West London to face a strong Queens Park Rangers XI at Loftus Road. The hosts played a side full of first team players who were earning minutes. It was a game where the B team gave a very good account of themselves and controlled large parts of the fixture, but ultimately the hosts managed to come away with the win.
About Middlesbrough Under-21s
Middlesbrough were in action on Friday 27 January in Premier League 2 in a home match against Southampton. It was the south coast side who took the lead through Dominic Ballard on three minutes but Calum Kavanagh levelled just two minutes later to make it 1-1. Ballard struck again before the break and it was Pharrell Willis who ensured the match finished level as he struck on the hour. A stunning scoreline on 9 January saw Boro come out on top over Sunderland away from home in a game which finished in a 7-5 win for Mark Tinkler’s side.
