Brentford B return to Premier League Cup action on Friday evening when they face Peterborough United Under-21s at the Lamex Stadium in a 7pm kick-off.
This will be the third match of the side’s group campaign and they will be aiming to make it three consecutive wins following positive results against Under-21 sides from Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa as the young Bees sit top of Group D.
Recent form
The B Team have been on an impressive run in recent weeks having pulled off a string of positive results so they can take confidence going into the game at the home of Sky Bet League Two side Stevenage.
The young Bees haven’t been beaten since August and they have won their last four fixtures, three of which saw the group net five times as they beat the likes of Crewe Alexandra, Hearts and Bedfont Sports. Their last match was that Middlesex Senior Cup tie against Bedfont where they claimed a 5-2 win with goals from Kyreece Lisbie, Isaac Holland, Michael Olakigbe, Roy Syla and Nico Jones. Their last outing in the Premier League Cup saw them beat Aston Villa 3-1 where Alex Gilbert grabbed two goals to take his tally to 10 for the season whilst Lisbie also scored late.

Neil MacFarlane’s thoughts
Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane is excited for another brilliant test in a competition that he feels his players are thriving in so far. He explained: “It’s been an outstanding tournament to be introduced to. The boys have really bought into it, they’re loving the competitive aspect to it and the tough teams within our group.
"We’ve got a really tough group, which we’ve started well in. We’ve had two terrific wins and now we come to play a home game against Peterborough. It will be every bit as tough, if not tougher, because they’re a really good side. It’s one where we want to continue to build our confidence and momentum because we’re in a terrific vein of form and hopefully that can continue come Friday night.”
The opposition
Peterborough’s Under-21s also come into the match in positive form having beaten Burnley 4-1 last time out in the Professional Development League. Prior to that that beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 which followed a 3-3 draw with Coventry City. Matthew Etherington’s side are sixth in Group A of the Professional Development League having claimed 16 points from their opening 14 games. In the Premier League Cup Peterborough are also two games into their campaign and they are third in the group following one draw and one loss from their opening couple of matches.
