Brentford B were beaten 3-1 as they faced an experienced Queens Park Rangers side at Loftus Road.

The B Team were level going into the final 15 minutes of the match which was spilt into three 30-minute periods before goals from Taylor Richards and Sinclair Armstrong helped QPR to the win in Tuesday's friendly.

The young Bees travelled to Loftus Road Stadium where they came up against a QPR XI which was featured several first team players. Neil MacFarlane also named a strong team with Fin Stevens, Aaron Hickey and Shandon Baptiste named in the starting line-up.

After threatening in attacking areas in the opening stages QPR took the lead just two minutes in after a pass from Brentford goalkeeper, Roco Rees was intercepted by 35-year-old Adomah, who was able to slot the ball into an empty net.

Brentford responded well and came close to finding an equaliser when a Ryan Trevitt cross found Hickey at the far post but the full-back's volley was blocked well by Conor Masterson.

Trevitt was a threat throughout for Brentford

Yehor Yarmoliuk was at the heart of everything good that the Bees did going forward in the opening 15 minutes, with the number eight continuing to find space on the ball in the middle of the park.

After a positive spell for the visitors, Rees was called into action on 20 minutes after QPR’s Taylor Richards came inside from the ring wing and attempted to curl the ball into the far corner, but the shot stopper was there to make a smart save.

At the beginning of the second half an hour Richards, who has made 15 Championship appearances for the hosts this season came close again.

The forward drove through the heart of the Brentford midfield and looked to curl the ball into the bottom corner from 20-yards but his side footed effort went just wide of the post.

Neil MacFarlane’s side were playing some good football at times with only their final product letting them down.

On 45 minutes Lucias Vine displayed some excellent hold up play before laying off an oncoming Yarmoliuk, the Ukrainian slipped through Stevens who made an over lapping run down the right flank but the full-back saw his cross fly out of play.

Moments later Stevens was within the action again this time getting on the end of a brilliant pass from Trevitt.

The Brentford number two delivered with precision this time as his cut back cross found Olakigbe at the far post, the winger took a touch before striking towards goal, but his shot was blocked by Masterson who was their once again for the QPR 11.

MacFarlane’s team were really putting on the pressure towards the end of the second stoppage in play and came agonisingly close to getting back on level terms on 58 minutes.

A brilliant pass from Tristan Crama spilt the QPR midfield finding Trevitt whose first touch allowed him to run at the host’s backline and play through Olakigbe.

The number seven’s side footed effort from just inside the box looked destined to find the bottom right corner but Rangers keeper, Jordan Archer did well to flick the ball round the post.

Moments later the home team came close to doubling their lead when Chris Willock’s cross from the left wing deflected off Crama forcing Hickey to make a brilliant goal line clearance.

On 63 minutes Olakigbe finally got his goal and Brentford’s leveller, substitute J’Neil Bennett played an intelligent pass through to the winger who made a great run in behind the QPR defence and tucked the ball into the near post.

Michael Olakigbe

Trevitt was displaying the same impressive form that he has become accustomed to for the B Team this season, his flash cross halfway through the third period flew across the six-yard box with Olakigbe close to getting a toe onto the ball.

On 75 minutes QPR regained the lead following Richards free kick from 30-yards out.

The first team attacker whipped his set piece up and over the Brentford wall and out the reach of Rees who was at full stretch.

On 90 minutes Armstrong sealed the win for QPR after the striker got on the end of an attempted back pass from Oyegoke and flicked the ball past Rees before tapping the ball into an empty net.
