Brentford goalkeeper David Raya was an unused substitute for Spain last night. The Brentford stopper remained on the bench as his national team beat Czech Republic 2-0. It ended a successful international period for Spain.
David and his team mates have played four games in UEFA Nations League A Group 2 in the past ten days. The win over Czech Republic was their second victory. They also drew two games to top the table ahead of the final matches in September.
David was not involved in any of the games but has trained with his country since the end of the Premier League season. Spain scored a goal in each half to win in Málaga last night. Carlos Soler got the first while Pablo Sarabia scored the second after the interval.
Spain will finish their Nations League campaign with games against Switzerland at home and Portugal away in September. They will then head to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup 2022 at the end of the year. David has earned one cap for his country so far and will aim to be part of that squad when international football resumes.
