Reece Cole’s loan at Sky Bet League Two Newport County is now officially at an end. The Brentford B midfield player signed for the South Wales club in early August in a loan deal that expires today, Monday 1 January. His time with Newport was, however, cut short by a knee injury that caused him to be unavailable for selection for around three months. Reece completed his rehabilitation from that injury in West London and played for Brentford B against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester City last month.
Reece made his professional debut in Brentford’s Sky Bet Championship win over Nottingham Forest last season and was involved in First Team pre-season friendlies this summer. He scored in wins over Aldershot Town and Oxford United and also played in the draw against Southampton at Griffin Park. He played five games for Newport, scoring the winner on his debut against Coventry City.
