Jake Reeves has signed a new two-year contract to keep him at Brentford Football Club until the summer of 2015.

The 19-year-old central midfield player put pen to paper this afternoon prior to starting for Brentford’s Development Squad in the Under-21 Professional Development League Two South game against Swansea City.

Jake is a product of Brentford’s youth system, having completed his two-year scholarship in the summer of 2011 and turned professional.

He was on the books of Tottenham Hotspur until the age of 16 and was spotted by former Youth Team Manager Darren Sarll and given a scholarship at Brentford.

The central midfield player captained the Youth Team in 2010/11 and made his First Team debut on the final day of that season.

He was given a two-year professional contract as part of the Club’s Development Squad but was promoted to the First Team after impressing in pre-season and made his full debut on the first day of the 2011/12 season.

Jake made 11 appearances for The Bees in 2011/12 and has made a further seven this term.

He also had a successful loan spell at AFC Wimbledon in November 2012.

“He has also put in a number of strong performances for the First Team.

“He benefitted from his loan spell at AFC Wimbledon and showed he could cope with the aggression of League Two football.

“We are delighted with the way he trains and look forward to him being an important member of the First Team squad in the coming years.”

Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler said: “Jake has come through the youth ranks to be a full member of the First Team squad.

“He has already played a lot of games for us and is consistently on the substitute’s bench in an important part of the season.

“That shows how well he has done here over a period of time.

“There is more to come from him, he is still a very young player and has the potential to be even better

“Jake is a player with a great attitude, good technical ability and understanding of the game.

“I look forward to working with him over the next few years.”
