Brentford fans still have time to do thier bit and help donate books to fellow local families. Brentford FC and our Community Sports Trust have launched a book drive on behalf of the Children’s Book Project with the goal of collecting 5,000 pre-loved books to be gifted to families with few of their own. You can donate at our match at home to Southampton tomorrow, Saturday 7 May.
The Children’s Book Project gifts 1000s of books to schools to enable them to put on book ‘festivals’ where children select and take home beautiful books that they feel excited about. The charity wants every child to have access to books they can immerse themselves in and be inspired or excited by. In conjunction with the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, the Club has invited its supporters and the local community to look through their shelves, sort out any books their children no longer read and then to donate them at one of the dedicated drop points in the local area.
Books can be donated at any time either at Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub, by the 3G pitches or inside the Bees Superstore during shop opening hours. You can read the full story here. A competition has been running for anyone who has already donated, see more below.
