Brentford B were narrowly beaten 1-0 by National League side Maidenhead United at York Road on Saturday afternoon.

Temitope Eweka's header was the difference between the two sides in the heat in Berkshire in another good run out for Neil MacFarlane's young Bees.

The B Team headed to York Road with a few First Team bodies in their ranks with the likes of Dom Thompson, Tariqe Fosu and Marcus Forss all starting the match. There was also a start for new player Kyreece Lisbie whilst Yehor Yarmoliuk was named on the bench.

The first 15 minutes saw the B Team have lots of possession but there were no real clear cut chances for either side. A half chance presented itself to Nico Jones as he won a header in the centre of the box from an Alex Gilbert corner early on but the National League side cleared well.

On 20 minutes the game's first chance arrived when a Brentford ball across from the right went straight to Thompson on the left-hand side. He delivered a curling cross towards the far post which Max Dickov headed inches wide- the goal would have been ruled out as the offside flag was also raised.

The opening goal then arrived just five minutes later and it came through Eweka for the hosts. Following a foul outside the box a free-kick was delivered in and the United player stooped to head past Winterbottom.

Just after the 30-minute mark Emile Acquah had a chance when the ball was played into the box from the left-hand side but the Maidenhead forward's low shot was wide of Winterbottom's near post. That preceded a chance for The Bees as Nathan Young-Coombes saw his free-kick curl towards the bottom corner of Dan Gyollai's goal but the United keeper was equal to it as he collected.

A couple of minutes before the break it looked as if Lisbie would get himself on the scoresheet after a wonderful ball across goal from the right from Gilbert. The winger popped up at the far post and it looked like he would tap home but for a very good defensive challenge from Remy Clerima who turned the ball behind for a corner as United took a narrow lead into the break.

Eight minutes after the break there was a chance for the hosts when a ball across goal was headed towards the near post but for a brilliant block from Thompson as the ball was turned behind for a corner.

On the hour The Bees worked a short free-kick before Forss found himself on the edge of the box. He curled a powerful effort goal wards and it took a deflection off of a Maidenhead defender before the ball flicked up and just over the goal.

It was almost an instant impact for Yamoliuk as he took the ball centrally and spread the play before bursting into the box. As Dickov delivered one of the Trialists saw his shot saved before the Ukrainian saw his follow up effort well blocked behind for a corner.

The Bees kept looking for an equaliser but chances were few and far between with Maidenhead defending strongly. A Val Adedokun cross on 87 minutes was aimed perfectly towards one of the Trialists, but despite connecting well, the United defence were once again on hand to block the danger as the Berkshire side claimed the win.
