Flying wing back Rico Henry insisted there will be no let-up in the squad’s determination to achieve the top ten finish their season’s efforts deserve. And he believes the run of five wins and a draw in the last seven games will see the Bees go to Old Trafford to face Manchester United next Monday “as equals” in search of another three points.

Rico, speaking in the Mixed Zone after a 0-0 draw against Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday, said: “Obviously playing with and against top players you learn a lot in every game and I’ve learned a lot from the past few games. We’ve been solid and we’ll take that into the next game.

"The gaffer is always saying to me ‘get up and down the wing and we'll create chances’, and that's what we did against Spurs. We had Ivan’s chance and Bryan could have scored and I don’t think we gave much away, so it was a good performance.”

Rico admitted there was a growing feeling in the camp that the squad now feels at home in the Premier League, and added: “We’re facing sides as equals. We know that because we were disappointed not to win at the weekend.”

The defender’s consistent displays have marked him out as one of the Premier League’s best left-sided wing backs, prompting suggestions of an England call up: “That’s nice, but I just want to play my game at Brentford and focus on myself and the team. That’s all I'm doing now and we’re performing well.

“We’re looking at the top ten, to finish as high as possible and we don’t want to fall off now. We’re still working hard, still running hard and everyone's working for themselves and each other.”

He said the performance against Spurs and restricting Harry Kane and Heung-min Son to scraps would give the side confidence for the Bank Holiday Monday trip to Manchester United.

“The gaffer is pleased with the lads, everyone’s buzzing and the confidence is high,” he said. “We have confidence, we have a chance to get three points. We're just going to work on the training pitch and hopefully take the three points.”
