Brentford B midfielder Ryan Trevitt says his aim is to continue to keep up his hard work having spent pre-season alongside the First Team group.
The 19-year-old has had a positive start to the 2022/23 campaign and has featured for The Bees in pre-season, joining them on tour in Germany in recent weeks. Ryan also extended his stay with the Club earlier this summer as he signed a new two-year contract following a positive season with the B Team in the 2021/22 campaign.
Speaking after he notched a goal and an assist in Wednesday’s behind closed doors pre-season friendly win over Arsenal, the youngster explained: “I’m really enjoying it. I feel like I’m progressing well and building confidence; I’m really looking forward to the new season. I think the main thing for me is to keep working hard and continue to bring quality in my performances and try to make things happen in games. I just want to keep trying to impress.”
Reflecting on the match with The Gunners, Ryan believes it was a very good test for the team as they ready themselves for the campaign.
“I thought it was a really good game with high intensity,” said Ryan. “You know when you play against a team like Arsenal that they will move it quickly and side to side so you have to stay in your shape which I thought we did well. We gave away minimal chances apart from a few long shots, and we took our moments when they came.”
Discussing playing a key role in both goals, first when he switched the ball across for Bryan Mbeumo to finish, and second as he fired in with his left foot from inside the box, the midfielder said he was pleased to contribute for the side.
He continued: “I’m really happy, it’s something I want to add to my game to continue to get my stats up. Thomas (Strakosha) played the ball out to Fin (Stevens) and I gambled on the run. I saw Bryan in the middle and was able to pick him out and he finished it really well. For the goal, I saw the ball switched to Rico (Henry) and I made the run inside and he played me in and was able to finish it off.”
