The Sky Bet Championship season ends today and Brentford know they will be playing in the second tier in 2019/20. And after the Premier League relegation battle was decided yesterday, they already know the majority of their opponents. Cardiff City failed to beat Crystal Palace last night and were relegated from the top flight a year after promotion so will be back in the Championship next season.
A draw at Millwall on Good Friday confirmed The Bees would be in the second tier next term no matter their results for the rest of the season and 17 other teams are in the same position which means three quarters of the division is now confirmed. Brentford will, for the sixth season in a row, be in the second tier next season and the last season of football at Griffin Park will be with The Bees as a Championship side.
With one game of the Championship season remaining, 13 teams in the division cannot go up or down while two are already up and three are already down. The 13, including The Bees, will remain in the second tier for next season. Huddersfield Town and Fulham were relegated from the Premier League last month and Cardiff joined them last night. League One finished yesterday but it was confirmed earlier in the week that Luton Town and Barnsley would be automatically promoted and will be in the second tier next season.
The full list of Sky Bet Championship teams confirmed for 2019/20 is as follows:

The six remaining places in the Championship will be filled over the few weeks and two of them will be decided today. Five of the six will go to current Championship sides. The relegation spots are decided with Rotherham United, Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town already down. At the other end there are still seven teams fighting for one promotion place with Norwich City and Sheffield United confirmed in the Premier League for 2019/20. Leeds United, West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa are secure in the Play-Offs and Derby County, Middlesbrough and Bristol City have their sights set on the last spot in the top six. Derby have the lead in that race and will make the Play-Offs if they beat West Brom today. Anything else could let one of the other two in.
There are four more teams that could win promotion from Sky Bet League One. Charlton Athletic, Portsmouth, Sunderland and Doncaster Rovers will contest the Play-Offs over the next three weeks, and one will win promotion at the end of the month.
