A 95th minute goal from Patrick Bauer ensured that it was Charlton Athletic celebrating at Wembley on Sunday after they beat Sunderland 2-1 in the Sky Bet League One Play-Off final. The Addicks fell behind early on to a comical Naby Sarr own-goal but were level before the break thanks to Ben Purrington's close-range finish.

It looked like for the second time in two days extra-time would be needed but Sunderland switched off from a free-kick allowing Bauer to poke home from close range. The goal ended Charlton's three-year stay in League One and means they join us, and London neighbours Millwall, Fulham, and Queens Park Rangers, in the division for next year.

Only one spot remains to be decided with Aston Villa facing Derby County this afternoon to decide who will take the 24th and final spot in the 2019/20 Sky Bet Championship. Brentford ended the Championship season 11th in the table, securing a top half finish for the fifth year in a row. The Bees will, for the sixth season in succession, be in the second tier next season and the last season of football at Griffin Park will be with Brentford as a Championship side.
