1. Born in Nigeria, Chiedozie Ogbene moved to Ireland with his parents in 2005 and took a shine to sports at Bunscoil Chríost Rí in Cork.

2. Chiedozie took up Gaelic football and joined Nemo Rangers as well as lining out at schoolboy level for the neighbouring football club, Tramore Athletic.

3. Declan Coleman saw enough potential to bring Chiedozie to Cork City in August 2015.

4. As a regular in Cork’s Under-19 side, Chiedozie won the Enda McGuill Cup and helped Cork become the first Irish club to play in the UEFA Youth League, where they claimed a memorable victory at home to HJK Helsinki before losing out to Italian giants AS Roma over two legs.

5. Chiedozie won the FAI Cup with Cork in 2016 – his first piece of professional silverware.

6. Chiedozie is eligible to represent both Nigeria and Republic of Ireland at international level.

7. His childhood team was Liverpool; Chiedozie has followed The Reds since he was very little.

8. Chiedozie’s footballing idol is Cristiano Ronaldo; he plays in the same position and tries to mimic the Madrid star’s style of play.

9. Chiedozie’s interests outside of football include swimming, but when he gives up the game he would like to pursue an interest in Physiotherapy.

10. Chiedozie has two brothers and two sisters - both of his brothers are athletes (running).
