Theo Archibald has joined Sky Bet League Two side Forest Green Rovers on a season-long loan for the 2018/19 campaign. The Scottish forward confirmed his move to Gloucestershire yesterday and joined his new teammates for training this morning, Monday 2 July.
The 20-year-old winger, who made three First Team appearances in jersey number 25 last season, has agreed to a full-season loan with the option of a break in January for either party.
A forward, accustomed to playing on either side of a central striker, Theo joined The Bees in May 2017 from Scottish giants Celtic. He had come through the youth ranks in Glasgow, getting some game time in the UEFA Youth League on his way to appearances for Scotland's Under-16 and then Under-19 sides.
In just over a full season with Brentford, Theo has made 35 B Team appearances and scored 14 goals under the guidance of Kevin O'Connor. He made his First Team debut on 19 August 2017 against Ipswich Town, coming on as a substitute for Lasse Vibe. He then made his first start for the Club in the EFL Cup on 19 September in a 3-1 defeat to Norwich City.
B Team Head Coach O'Connor said: "The B Team plan is to develop the players in a way that helps them reach their full potential on the football pitch. After reviewing the team over the summer, we feel that Theo’s progression is best served by getting minutes in League Two with a club like Forest Green Rovers.
"Rovers are in a division that requires a certain attitude and approach to football, which is exactly the environment that Theo can learn from. He joins a team that will push him to his limits to try and earn a starting place every week and we trust that he will put in the hours to justify his move away from West London."
