Brentford fans have been digging deep in to their pockets to raise thousands of pounds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Brentford’s game against Millwall last Saturday, 3 November, was used to commemorate the sacrifices of past generations as part of the Football Remembers campaign. Brentford’s match shirts were adorned with a poppy and there were collectors from Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal at Griffin Park collecting for the charity. The Club was contacted this week and informed that Bees fans donated £1,002 at the game.

Football Remembers has been ongoing for four years to mark the 100th anniversary of World War I. The centenary of the end of that conflict comes on Sunday, 11 November, and Brentford paid tribute to former players killed in conflict by reading out their names and printing them in the matchday programme, which was dedicated to them with a special front and pack cover. The Club has also had special poppy pin badges available in the Club Shop for the past few weeks. Money donated has gone directly to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and hundreds have been picked up by fans. The exact total is not known but will exceed £1,500. The Club would like to thank fans for their generosity.
