Young left back Tom Field has committed his future to Brentford by signing a long-term contract. The 19-year-old put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year deal today, Friday 23 December, his first First Team contract. The defender is now under contract with The Bees until the end of the summer of 2020.
Tom has been with the Club since he was 15 and turned professional in 2015 as part of the Club’s Development Squad before signing an extension to that deal just over a year ago. He made his Sky Bet Championship debut in the 3-0 West London Derby win over Fulham in April and set up the third goal. He has played in Brentford’s last two Championship matches, away to Bristol City and Leeds United, at left wing back. Tom has made five Brentford appearances in all competitions, starting on four occasions.
Brentford Head Coach, Dean Smith, said: "We are really pleased that Tom has committed this stage of his career to Brentford FC and feel we can both work together to continue his development, which has already shown great potential and help him become an established Championship player.
"The season has been interrupted with little injuries but in the last few weeks he has got back into the first team and performed to levels we expect from him. Our future as a club looks bright having two young 19 year old left backs with undoubted potential competing with each other for the next four years."
