Brentford midfield player Toumani Diagouraga has been recalled from his loan spell at Sky Bet League Two Portsmouth.

The 26-year-old central midfielder has been with Portsmouth since mid-February.

The deal included a 24-hour recall clause and Brentford have exercised that option.

Toumani will return to train with The Bees tomorrow, Thursday March 27, and will be available for the nine Sky Bet League One games Brentford have remaining this season.

Toumani played eight games for Pompey during his time with the League Two side.

Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Manager, said: “The idea of sending Toumani out on loan was for him to get valuable game time.

“He would then be match fit for when he was needed by Brentford Football Club.

“He has got great pitch time at Portsmouth, done an exceptional job for them and we have had great feedback.

“We now need him back to make sure everything is in place so we can have a successful end to the season.

“This loan has achieved its aim.”

Toumani completed a permanent move to Griffin Park in the summer of 2010 after a successful loan spell.

He born in Paris to Malian parents but signed for Watford’s Academy and then turned professional with The Hornets but made only six appearances for Watford before moving to Hereford United in the summer of 2008 after helping The Bulls to promotion the previous season during a year-long loan spell.

Peterborough United signed him in 2009 for an undisclosed fee but he was allowed to join Brentford on loan for the second half of the 2009/10 campaign.

He made that move permanent for an undisclosed fee and soon established himself in the centre of The Bees’ midfield.

Toumani has now played more than 150 games for The Bees in all competitions.

He has played 17 games for Brentford this season, 11 of them from the start, and 12 Sky Bet League One matches, seven from the start.
