Tristan Crama remained in high spirits despite the B team’s defeat to an experienced QPR XI at Loftus Road on Tuesday afternoon with the centre-back believing his side can be proud of their performance.
The 21-year-old played the full 90 minutes against a QPR side which featured several first team players with the three goal scorers for the hosts racking up a combined 43 Championship appearances this season for the R’s.
In a game which was level at 1-1 going into the final 15 minutes thanks to Michael Olakigbe’s third goal in three consecutive games, the B team were eventually beaten by two late strikes with QPR coming out 3-1 winners.
Discussing the tough affair, Crama said: “It was a good game which was high in intensity, we can be proud of ourselves because we played well against a strong team. We made some mistakes which lead to goals but we made a lot of chances as well so we can be happy and frustrated but we will learn from the game and go again.
“They were really clinical, I think they had three or four chances which they scored from, we had about seven or eight chances and we only managed to score one so it was frustrating at times. We played really well, we just need to work on our finishing in front of goal but I’m sure in our next game we will do much better.”
After playing their fifth match in just 15 days Crama went on to reflect on what has been a busy January for the young Bees with their Round of 16 Premier League Cup meeting with Middlesbrough coming up next.
He continued: “It’s been a great month for us, we will have played six games come the end of this month, I feel like this is good for us but it’s hard work because we give 100 per cent every game. We are looking forward to the game (against Middlesbrough) and I think if we score we’re going to win, we all trust each other and have been really good in that competition so I can’t wait.”
Since joining Neil MacFarlane’s side from French outfit Béziers at the beginning of the 2020/21 season, Crama’s development has seen him become more involved with the first team, making the bench a handful of times under Thomas Frank this season.
Speaking on his game the young defender explained: “I think I’m making the right steps and becoming more consistent. I always try to give my full concentration in every game I play.”
