Uwe Rösler said he expected his Brentford team would have to battle if they wanted to beat Scunthorpe United.

The Bees travel to Lincolnshire to take on Scunthorpe tomorrow looking to build on a run of one defeat in ten.

The teams drew 0-0 at both Griffin Park and Glanford Park last season and Uwe, speaking to Bees Player, said he expected a similar game to the last meeting in Lincolnshire.

“We know what it is like going to Scunthorpe,” said the Brentford Manager.

“There is a tight pitch and an intimidating stadium.

“They play very long on Leon Clarke.

“We know what to expect.

“Last year it was a battle there.

“This year it will be a battle and we hope to come out as the winner.”

Brentford played three games in a week at Griffin Park, beating Crawley Town in an npower League One game and a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie after drawing 0-0 with Shrewsbury Town in a league match.

The Bees were hit by an injury to striker Farid El Alagui but Uwe said the rest of the squad were fine.

He added the players who had come in to the team for the JPT clash had given him a nice problem when it comes to selecting the team to take on Scunthorpe.

“Everyone else in the squad, apart from Farid, is fine,” said Uwe.

“Everyone is available.

“We came through the games with no injuries.

“That is always good news.

“Every one of our 18 outfield players is an option for us.

“Some of our players have been playing excellently.

“Kevin O’Connor, for instance, did not put a foot wrong on Tuesday.

“He was very calm, very solid, very trustworthy.

“There were a number of good performances.

“We will have to see.

“It is a nice problem to have.”

Striker Farid El Alagui is facing a long lay-off after injuring his knee against Crawley last Saturday.

The striker underwent a scan after picking up the injury and is about to start a lengthy rehabilitation programme.

Uwe said he and Sporting Director Mark Warburton were looking for a replacement.

“Mark Warburton and I have been on the phone,” he said.

“Nothing is concrete.

“We are looking for a loan addition to the squad, initially for a month, with a view to making it longer, depending on the situation with Farid.

“We are not there yet and I do not think it will be done by Saturday.”
