The First Team players and staff of Brentford Football Club have flown to Dubai for some warm weather winter training.

The First Team group, led by Manager Uwe Rösler, flew out of Heathrow Airport yesterday, Sunday February 3, and headed to Dubai for some rest, recuperation and training.

They will spend almost four full days in the United Arab Emirates city-state and will prepare for Saturday’s npower League One match against Bury while away.

The players will also have a chance to recharge their energy levels and rest their bodies before the run-in to the end of the 2012/13 season.

The group will fly back in to Heathrow Airport on Thursday evening and train as normal at the Club’s Jersey Road Training Ground on Friday before Bury come to Griffin Park on Saturday.

Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Sporting Director, said: “The players and staff have worked tirelessly since the start of pre-season.

“We are all very pleased with the success to date.

“Due to the FA Cup games against Chelsea we were fortunate to receive some additional income.

“Whilst the obvious use of the money would have been to bring in new players, it was felt essential by all the staff the players had the chance to refresh and get some much needed sun and train in a warm environment.

“We have a young squad and the demands of League One are evident.

“This is the type of recuperative break that will allow the players to recharge the batteries before they tackle the second half of the season.

“It is unusual for a League One club to take this type of break but it was felt this was a useful way to spend some of the money we got from the cup games.

“The rest has been put aside to give Uwe options to strengthen the squad towards the end of the season.”

Mark added: “Uwe and the staff have worked hard to get dressing room harmony.

“We don’t want to get players in for the sake of it; we only want players that will add value.

“The current group have done very well so far this season and are excited about what is to come.

“We have invested in keeping the squad together for the rest of the season.

“This trip will enable to them to tackle it in the best way possible.”
